Making Love With Words, December 21, 2006 by Castina Charles
Surviving Loving A Ghost is a hauntingly beautiful and eloquently written book of love poems.
Delving into the depths of the soul, Ms. Simon wonderfully explores the various manifestations of love, and its affects on the human spirit.
As a reader, you're taken on a roller coaster of emotions from unimaginable bliss, to complete and utter despair.
Perhaps one of the most powerful aspects of this book is the juxtaposition of Simon's surrealistic approach to writing with the potent tangibility of her poems. Reading them, you will be both  awed by the sheer lyric beauty of her words, and deeply moved by the stories she tells, as anyone remotely acquainted with the experience of being in love can relate.
A beautifully written text, I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in comprehending and experiencing the wonders of love.

Filled with strength, courage, and an unshakable faith in the Higher Power, Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice is an exquisitely moving text that takes you on a mesmerizing spiritual journey.

Empowered with words that uplift the spirit Ms. Simon illustrates over and over again her unique ability to embue her poetry with raw energy and emotion that captivates both the mind and soul. At moments tender, and others incredibly militant, Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice showcases Simon's fierce resilience against any adversity, as well as her unwavering love and commitment to God.

Glory in The Aftermath  5 Feb 2007

No Means No: The Aftermath is a powerful outcry against social injustice, child abuse, and violence against women. Collaborating with other women poets, Fania Simon passionately explores the pain of the victims, drawing upon her own experiences to formulate a spiritual unity with all those who have suffered. Touching upon many themes, such as rape and child abuse, one of the things that Ms. Simon does exceptionally well is capture the voice of the disenfranchised. Her words are ripe with emotion, and are always deeply moving. It is a pain that has been stifled and silenced, that she seeks to bring to the forefront. However she does not stop there. Perhaps one of the most powerful aspects of No Means No: The Aftermath is Simon’s thorough analysis of humanity as a whole. With poems such as “Upside Down Humanity” she forces the reader to look through the spiritual abyss and question the callous cruelties of humanity. Beautifully crafted, potently delivered, and courageously written No Means No: The Aftermath is a spiritually and mentally uplifting text. It is a call to arms to all those who have been victimized and who wish to reclaim their strength and dignity. Most of all No Means No: The Aftermath is a living testament that there is life after the devastation and that if one simply taps into the inner depths of one’s soul, they will find that there is glory in the aftermath.

A Brilliant And Moving Story, October 17, 2006
Sofi's Load is a moving and powerful text. It is the author's first novel, and the second
book which I have read from her so far, the first being Poetry In Haiti, a must read
for anyone interested in Haitian culture crafted in the hands of a literary genius.
Once again I find myself enraptured by Ms. Simon's mastery of language and her
 superb craftsmanship.
She imbues her text with such emotion and artistic sensibility,
that as a reader you cannot help but be moved by the power of her words.

The novel itself is an inspirational text, filled with endurance and courage against much
cruelty and hardship. Sofi's story is not only a personal memoir, but a symbolic
metaphor of Haiti and its women-amidst all adversity and persecution the courage and
the tenacity to persevere still remains strong. Sofi's Load is a beautifully written novel,
one that I'm sure will become a literary classic.
I anxiously await for Ms. Simon's forthcoming work.

Creating Magic With Words, October 5, 2006
To say that Fania Simon is only a poet would be a mere understatement.
She is a prophetic artist, a lyrical genius, who creates magic through her words.
Poetry in Haiti is perhaps one of the most moving books I have ever read.
A collection of poetry and short stories Ms. Simon successfully imbues her work
with the consciousness of her people.
From the first verse to the last you are presented with the spirit of Haiti.
Her acknowledgements "To Jean J. Dessalines, Toussaint Louverture,
Henry Christophe," the forefathers of the Haitian Revolution, firmly roots this text
in the blood and spirit of Haiti. The remainder of the pieces carry this message.
At once prideful, celebratory, nostalgic, poignant and revolutionary,
her words are always moving.

This book is a must read for all Haitians, but more significantly for anyone interested
in great art and beauty, and is willing to ride on the spiritual pilgrimage to Haiti,
that Ms. Simon takes you on.
